Fiona Budden retrained as a garden designer at the prestigious English School of Gardening at the Chelsea Physic Garden following a career as an art dealer in London’s West End, working initially for Chris Beetles and then The Maas Gallery for over fifteen years.

While gaining a distinction in Garden Design at The English School of Gardening, Fiona was successful in designing a number of live projects. These included a garden for students at the Royal Court Theatre, London, a large private garden in Clapham, a garden in London’s South Bank for the 2012 Olympics, a garden on the Sussex Weald and the main garden at the former residence of composer Benjamin Britten and his partner English tenor, Peter Pears: The Red House, near Aldeburgh, Suffolk.

Since graduating Fiona has designed many gardens in and around London as well as the Home Counties, including renovating two gardens designed by John Brookes that had fallen into disrepair. She also updated and oversaw the gardens at a London pre-preparatory school adding an outdoor classroom and implementing a school vegetable patch growing a wide variety of fruit and vegetables as well as cut flowers, all of which were harvested by the children and used throughout the school.

Fiona helped on Ginny Blom’s Gold Medal winning Chelsea Garden for Laurent Perrier in 2007 and worked for Andy Sturgeon on his Gold Medal winning Chelsea Garden for Cancer Research in 2008.

Having moved to Scotland in 2009, Fiona is currently working on a large country garden in Devon, a town house garden in Edinburgh’s New Town, as well as several projects in London.
